Review – Gulp Alive Ripple Mullet

I have recently started to use a lot more artifical baits than I used to. While hanging out soaking a live bait I now like to have one bait casting rod/reel combo that I toss artificial lures with. On a recent trip to Bass Pro Shops I came across one of Berkleys newer lures.

Gulp Alive Ripple Mullet

I bought a pack of the white ripple mullets and took them to the intercostal waterway near ponce inlet. Throwing the bait for about 2 hours I landed 1 20” redfish and 4 flounder ranging from 11” to 15”.

I have since taken the lure out about 4 times and have never failed to catch a fish on it. I have caught Redfish, Flounder, Mangrove Snapper and a NICE Snook on it.

Pros

  • Attracted MANY strikes
  • Smell, feel and taste caused fish to hang on
  • Chaotic movement appears to be wounded baitfish

Cons

  • Somewhat expensive for a soft plastic
  • Small fish (like pinfish) can grab the tail and rip it off

Conclusion

A very high quality lure. It is highly castable, attracts many hits and catches a wide verity of sport fish while avoiding many of the trash fish.
